After lunch, we visit these monasteries, where we find a continuously burning butter lamp for over 400 years. We also engage in rotating the prayer wheel outside the monasteries and spend the night at a hotel.

After crossing the river, we descend towards Simbu Khola, which originates from the Yalung Glacier. Trekking through the steep and narrow Ghunsa Khola valley, we reach our destination, Sukethum, where we will spend the night at a lodge.
Today’s trek is challenging as we navigate a narrow and slippery trail. We climb steeply uphill, then descend before crossing a wooden bridge. Continuing our ascent, we reach Solima. The trail then descends to the riverbed, crosses the river again, and ascends zigzag hilly trails to reach Amjilosa. This picturesque spot features Tibetan lodges on the hillside and above the gorge.
After breakfast, we trek through dense forests with rhododendron, oak, and bamboo trees. Along the way, we encounter a beautiful waterfall across the river. We make a steep ascent followed by a descent to reach Gyabla, where we will spend the night at a lodge.
We descend to the river bed and continue through a pine forest. The valley opens up as we reach the Yak herder settlement of Phole. After about two hours of trekking, we reach the Sherpa village of Ghumsa. There, we can visit a small hydro-electricity power plant that supports the local community’s livelihood.
After breakfast, we follow the riverbank to Rampuk Kharka, crossing a suspension bridge along the way. We continue trekking and pass a sacred waterfall. The trail becomes challenging as we navigate landslide-affected hills. From above the ridge, we catch our first glimpse of Jannu. Finally, we reach Khambachen after a long day of trekking.
At an altitude of 4050m, we take time to acclimatize and explore the area. We visit monasteries, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Khabur (6332m), Phone (6645m), and Jannu. The snowcapped ridges beyond the Kanchenjunga Glacier provide a dramatic backdrop to the north. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast at Lhonak hotel, we navigate a slippery and icy path along the north bank of the river. We cross a bridge, ascend to the Ramtang pastures, pass Ghunsa village, and continue on a narrow and loose trail. Finally, we descend to the river and make our way towards Lhonak.
After breakfast at Lhonak, we embark on a day trip to Pangpema viewpoint at 5388m. The trail follows the edge of the glacier, passing through rocky sections and narrow landslide areas. Pangpema is a flat and grassy base camp with porter huts. From the viewpoint, we enjoy breathtaking views of valleys and majestic mountains, including Kanchenjunga’s North Face. We then return to Lhonak by retracing our steps.
After breakfast at Lhonak, we retrace our steps back to Ghumsa, descending along the same path. Along the way, we may encounter various wildlife moving through the hills and trees in search of food. Once we reach Ghumsa, we explore the local area and spend the night at a hotel.
We’ll trek through villages and a hydroelectricity plant before ascending into a dense forest of rhododendron and juniper. Continuing with a steep ascent, we’ll reach a ridge and follow the trail along its south side until we reach Sele Le.

After breakfast, we leave Tortong, cross the Simbuwa Khola bridge, and follow the path along the gorge’s bank. We then ascend to Lasiya Bhanjyang before descending to the river. Crossing the river, we trek to the picturesque Sherpa village of Yamphudin.
After breakfast, we descend through dense forest to the Kabeli Khola. Climbing a switchback to a ridge adorned with chortens and prayer flags, we continue ascending across the Kabeli Khola to reach the Limbu village of Mamangkhe.
Today is a relatively easier day of our trek. We ascend through terrace paddings to reach Mamangkhe village, then cross a suspension bridge and proceed to Phonpe Village.
