Detail Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Kathmandu.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day resting and exploring the vibrant city on your own. You can visit some popular tourist attractions like the Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa, or simply stroll around the streets and markets to soak in the local culture.

Day 2 - Flight to Nepalgunj.

Take a morning flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a bustling city located in the western Terai region of Nepal. After reaching Nepalgunj, you’ll check in to your hotel and spend the day preparing for the next day’s flight to Jumla. You can explore the city on your own or simply relax in the hotel.

Day 3 - Flight to Jumla and Trek to Chere Chaur (3055m).

After an early morning flight to Jumla, you’ll start the trek towards Chere Chaur, a small village perched on a hilltop. You’ll trek through beautiful pine and rhododendron forests, crossing streams and bridges along the way. It takes around 5-6 hours to reach Chere Chaur, where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse.

Day 4 - Trek to Chalachaur (2980m).

After breakfast, you’ll trek towards Chalachaur, another small village located at an altitude of 2980m. The trail passes through beautiful landscapes, forests, and streams, and you’ll encounter traditional villages along the way. The trek takes around 6-7 hours to reach Chalachaur, where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse.

Day 5 - Trek to Sinja Valley (2490m).

Today’s trek takes you to Sinja Valley, an ancient capital of the Malla dynasty. You’ll explore the ruins of the old palace and temples, and learn about the history and culture of the region. The trek takes around 5-6 hours to reach Sinja, where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse.

Day 6 - Trek to Ghorosingha (3050m).

After breakfast, you’ll trek towards Ghorosingha, a small village located at the base of a hill. The trail passes through forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron, and you’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The trek takes around 5-6 hours to reach Ghorosingha, where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse.

Day 7 - Trek to Rara Lake (2980m).

Today’s trek takes you to the highlight of the trip – Rara Lake. You’ll trek through alpine meadows and forests of pine and spruce, enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. You’ll reach Rara Lake in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day exploring the area. Rara Lake is the largest lake in Nepal and offers a serene and peaceful environment. You’ll spend the night in a guesthouse near the lake.

Day 8 - Rest Day at Rara Lake.

Spend a rest day at Rara Lake, exploring the area and relaxing by the lake. You can go for a walk around the lake, enjoy the sunrise and sunset, or simply relax in the peaceful environment. You’ll spend the night in a guesthouse near the lake.

Day 9 - Trek to Pina (2380m).

You’ll trek to the village of Pina, which is located on a hilltop with stunning views of the Himalayas. The trek will take you through beautiful forests and meadows, and you’ll pass through small villages on the way. You’ll spend the night in Pina.

Day 10 - Trek to Jumla and Flight to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu.

Today’s trek takes you back to Jumla, where you’ll catch a flight back to Nepalgunj then Kathmandu

Day 11 - Departure.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. This concludes the Rara Trek.

BEST SEASON/ TIME

March to May is one of the best times to trek in the Rara Lake Trek. Spring falls during this time and the weather is mild with temperatures being pleasant. The skies are generally clear, offering excellent views of the surrounding mountains. September to November (Autumn) is another favorable time for the trek. The weather is stable, and the skies are clear, providing stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. The temperatures are moderate, making it comfortable for trekking.

WEATHER

Spring is characterized by relatively stable weather conditions with clear skies and excellent visibility. The chances of precipitation are lower compared to other seasons, reducing the risk of rain or snow during the trek. Fall is portrayed by dry and stable atmospheric conditions. The skies are by and large clear, giving astounding perceivability and all-encompassing perspectives on the mountains.

PERMIT
  1. International tourists must obtain a tourist visa to enter which can be obtained on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. The visa is generally valid for 15, 30, or 90 days, and extensions are possible.
  2. TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) is a standard requirement for most trekking routes in Nepal which needs to be filled. It helps in maintaining a record of trekkers and provides emergency assistance if needed.
  3. Restricted Area Permit (RAP) for Rara lake is required.
