Detail Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Kathmandu.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day resting and exploring the vibrant city on your own.

Day 2 - Flight to Nepalgunj.

Take a morning flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a bustling city located in the western Terai region of Nepal. You’ll spend the night in Nepalgunj and prepare for the next day’s flight to Juphal.

Day 3 - Flight to Juphal and Trek to Dunai (2150m).

After an early morning flight to Juphal, you’ll start the trek towards Dunai, the administrative headquarters of Dolpo district. The trek takes you through beautiful terraced fields, crossing several streams and suspension bridges along the way. It takes around 3-4 hours to reach Dunai, where you’ll spend the night in a teahouse.

Day 4 - Trek to Ankhe (2660m).

The trek to Ankhe takes you through lush forests of oak, rhododendron, and pine. You’ll cross the Thulo Bheri River and ascend through a beautiful gorge to reach Ankhe, a small village located on the bank of the river. The trek takes around 5-6 hours, and you’ll spend the night in a teahouse.

Day 5 - Trek to Sulighat (3500m).

Today’s trek takes you through beautiful forests of pine and cedar, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. You’ll pass through small villages and cross several streams before arriving at Sulighat, a small village perched on a hilltop. The trek takes around 5-6 hours, and you’ll spend the night in a teahouse.

Day 6 - Trek to Phoksundo Lake (3600m).

Today’s trek takes you to the highlight of the trek, Shey Phoksundo Lake. The trail takes you through beautiful meadows, with views of the crystal-clear Phoksundo River below. You’ll arrive at the lake, where you can take in the serene beauty of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The trek takes around 4-5 hours, and you’ll spend the night in a teahouse near the lake.

Day 7 - Rest Day at Phoksundo Lake.

Spend a rest day at Phoksundo Lake, exploring the area and relaxing by the lake. You can take a boat ride on the lake, hike to nearby viewpoints, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. You’ll spend the night in a teahouse near the lake.

Day 8 - Trek to Chhepka (2670m).

Today’s trek takes you through beautiful forests of pine and juniper, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. You’ll pass through small villages and cross several streams before arriving at Chhepka, a small village located on the bank of the river. The trek takes around 5-6 hours, and you’ll spend the night

Day 9 - Trek to Juphal (2345m).

Today’s trek takes you back to Juphal, where you’ll spend the night in a teahouse. The trek takes around 6-7 hours, and you’ll pass through beautiful forests and small villages along the way.

Day 10 - Flight to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu.

After an early morning flight to Nepalgunj, you’ll take a connecting flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the vibrant city on your own or doing some last-minute shopping for souvenirs. In the evening, you’ll attend a farewell dinner hosted by the trekking company, where you can share your experiences with fellow trekkers and staff.

Day 11 - Departure.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. This concludes the Shey Phoksundo Lake Trek.

BEST SEASON/ TIME

March to May is one of the best times to trek in Shey Phoksundo Lake. Spring falls during this time and the weather is mild with temperatures being pleasant. The skies are generally clear, offering excellent views of the surrounding mountains. September to November (Autumn) is another favorable time for the trek. The weather is stable, and the skies are clear, providing stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. The temperatures are moderate, making it comfortable for trekking.

WEATHER

Spring is characterized by relatively stable weather conditions with clear skies and excellent visibility. The chances of precipitation are lower compared to other seasons, reducing the risk of rain or snow during the trek. Fall is portrayed by dry and stable atmospheric conditions. The skies are by and large clear, giving astounding perceivability and all-encompassing perspectives on the mountains.

PERMIT
  1. International tourists must obtain a tourist visa to enter which can be obtained on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. The visa is generally valid for 15, 30, or 90 days, and extensions are possible.
  2. TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) is a standard requirement for most trekking routes in Nepal which needs to be filled. It helps in maintaining a record of trekkers and provides emergency assistance if needed.
  3. Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is provided.
  4. Shey Phoksundo National Park entry permit is also provided.

All city area hotels offer Continental, Chinese, Mexican and American cuisine. Depending on where you are, you can find local cuisine. Hotels during treks provide a good quality of foods.
